UBNJ Southern Region Vice-President Rob Fischer and I
met with Senator Jeff Van Drew (Dist 1) on 1/17/18. It
was a good meeting with the Senator agreeing to
re-introduce the “Bowhunters Safety Zone” bill. He will
be signing on to Senator Sweeney’s Senate version of
Sunday Bowhunting, and has been in contact with
Assemblywoman McHose’s office RE: the No Net loss of
hunting & fishing land.
Rob and I also met with Senator Stephen Sweeney (Dist 3) on 1/21/08. The Senator stated that he was in total support of the things that we as sportsmen were looking to do. He could not stop talking about the Constitutional Amendment for the Right to Hunt, Fish, & Trap. He has since introduced this CA to the Senate. He also stated that the No Net Loss of hunting and Fishing lands was one of the best bills he’s seen in quite some time. He also said that he would be using his new position in the Senate to further outdoor agenda items.

Recent Legislative Activity:
On 2/21/08 the UBNJ testified at the Senate Environment Committee hearings on “Hooked on Fishing – Not on Drugs” and the “Pots Off the Reef ” bills. Both bills were released out of Committee favorably and currently wait on further legislative action.
